3.27 US Festival Premiere For Aussie Creature Feature 'Throwback':

Press Release: US festival premiere for Aussie creature feature 'Throwback'

The new Australian horror feature Throwback will have its North American premiere at the upcoming Famous Monsters Film Festival in San Jose, California. The festival runs from 17th-18th May in conjunction with Big Wow ComicFest, one of the largest pop culture conventions in Northern California.

Throwback is about two modern-day treasure-hunters, a female park ranger and an embittered ex-cop who encounter a Yowie, a savage Bigfoot-like creature, in the jungles of northern Australia. An homage to pulp adventure thrillers and monster movies of yesteryear, Throwback stars Shawn Brack, Anthony Ring, Melanie Serafin and Vernon Wells (The Road Warrior, Commando).

Writer/director Travis Bain and actors Shawn Brack and Vernon Wells will make special appearances at the festival. Bain says he is "ecstatic" about Throwback's impending US debut.

"It’s an honour and a privilege to be associated with the Famous Monsters name," he says. "The festival is the perfect fit for Throwback and vice versa. We couldn’t have asked for a better showcase for our US premiere. We're looking forward to giving Bay Area genre film fans one hell of a rumble in the jungle."

The festival is an offshoot of the Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, the world’s oldest entertainment magazine. Established in 1958, the magazine became one of the most popular and influential periodicals of all time. Film industry luminaries such as Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Guillermo del Toro, Stephen King, Rick Baker, George Lucas and many more have spoken at length about the influence and inspiration the magazine brought to their creative development.

Throwback has not yet secured a distributor but is expected to be acquired and released later in 2014... For more information please email travisbain@hotmail.com or filmfest@famousmonsters.com or visit:

3.25 Sequel Talk For 'The Blair Witch Project':

Let me start by saying I wasn't a fan of 'The Blair Witch Project', I know a lot of you guys were.. People running around in the woods screaming for 80 minuets just wasn't my thing.. Back in the summer of 1999 the film was released into to theaters and shocked everyone, by becoming one of the top grossing horror films of all time.. Pulling in a massive $140,539,099 million dollars..

Naturally the studio wanted to capitalize on the success, so a sequel was rushed into theaters in 2000 (Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2), the film failed to live up to expectations.. Any future sequels were put on hold for indefinitely.. But there has been a lot of sequel talk/rumors going around for years... In a recited interview with Movies.com, writer/director Eduardo Sánchez was asked about the future of the Blair Witch franchise:

"Lionsgate owns the property, so it’s obviously up to them right now. We’ve been talking to them for the past four or five years about doing it, but there’s nothing really in the works right now with us. But I think you’re right and maybe just being back at Lionsgate will help move things forward on another Blair Witch movie."

"Our plan for the sequel is definitely not doing a found-footage movie. It took a while for people to just figure out what Blair had done; I’m not sure why. The film was so experimental and kind of came out of nowhere so people didn’t know what to think of it and weren’t sure if that style could be repeated."

3.25 New Trailer For 'Edge Of Tomorrow':

A new trailer for Tom Cruise's upcoming alien war flick 'Edge Of Tomorrow', has made it's way online.. The film is based on the Japanese science-fiction novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka 'All You Need Is Kill'.. I love that title, but last year Warner Bros. announced that the flick would be re-titled (Edge Of Tomorrow)... Why on earth would the studio discard a bad-ass title in favor of a title that sounds more like a generic James Bond title is beyond me...

Story: In near future a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, shredding great cities to rubble and leaving millions of human casualties in their wake. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders. But now the world’s armies have joined forces for a last stand offensive against the alien horde, with no second chances.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped—untrained and ill-equipped—into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an Alpha down with him. But, impossibly, he awakens back at the beginning of the same hellish day, and is forced to fight and die again…and again. Direct physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop—dooming him to live out the same brutal combat over and over.

But with each pass, Cage becomes tougher, smarter, and able to engage the Mimics with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt), who has lain waste to more Mimics than anyone on Earth. As Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated battle becomes an opportunity to find the key to annihilating the alien invaders and saving the Earth..

The flick Stars: Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong And Bill Paxton.. Written By: Hiroshi Sakurazaka (Novel), Dante Harper, oby Harold, Alex Kurtzman, Christopher McQuarrie & Roberto Orci.. Directed By: Doug Liman.. The film is set for release June 6 2014..

3.20 Reboot For 'The Grudge':

Back in 2004 'The Grudge', became a huge hit, taking in more than $110 million dollars in North America.. Big numbers for a horror flick... The studio did release a third sequel, but it went direct-to-dvd in 2009..

I didn't hate the films, but didn't think they were anything special.. Seem like they were geared towards teenage girls, rather then true horror fans...

From the sky down to the depths of a city’s underground sewer tunnels, Megaguirus, Godzilla, and humankind battle for supremacy. Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. + Godzilla: Final Wars

Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. (2003) Mechagodzilla, the superior-armed, state-of-the-art, all-robot version of Godzilla, is undergoing repairs after his devastating battle against the world’s monsters. Twin tiny women appear and warn scientists to stop rebuilding Mechagodzilla but their warning goes unheeded. As the great robot nears completion, a series of mysterious incidents rock the world and awaken Godzilla, who unleashes a reign of terror against Tokyo. Mothra joins him and Japan’s desperate Prime Minister has no choice but to launch the unfinished Mechagodzilla against Mothra and Godzilla. But who will fight for whom? And in the end -- will the survivor be monster, robot or man? Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. has a run time of approximately 91 minutes and is not rated.

Godzilla: Final Wars (2004) Godzilla’s 50th Anniversary project and costliest adventure to date out of 28 films. Earth has been relatively peaceful since Godzilla was successfully buried deep in ice beneath the South Pole. Then -- sometime a few years hence -- several of his old nemeses return to wreak havoc on cities worldwide. A huge spaceship suddenly appears and neutralizes all the monsters in a blink. The visitors are “Xiliens,” who take human form and announce they would like to negotiate a peace treaty that would replace the United Nations with a “United Universe.” They are indeed too good to be true, however. It doesn’t take long before their nefarious real purpose is exposed -- conquering Earth. Greatly outmatched, Earth officials decide to de-freeze Godzilla as man’s only hope to vanish the invaders, as well as the monsters they control. Only trouble is Godzilla is still mad at man for freezing him in the first place. Godzilla: Final Wars has a run time of approximately 125 minutes and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence...
