2/5 Big Update For "The Strangers 2":

It appears we may finally get the longggg talked about sequel to 2008's sleeper hit "The Strangers".. It has been reported that casting is underway, with shooting scheduled to start this summer.. Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones will produce, in association with Relativity Media. BLOOM Media will handle international sales..

Director: Johannes Roberts (The Other Side Of The Door, 47 Meters Down), from a script by: Bryan Bertino (The Strangers, The Monster) and Ben Ketai (The Forest)..

The film will center around a family whose road trip takes a turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park and after the power goes out they decide to hunker down for the night in a borrowed trailer. Under the cover of darkness three familiar masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test their every limit.

Just a couple of months ago, it appeared the project was pretty much dead - according to producer Adrienne Biddle:

"Bryan and I and our company are not attached to the project at this point. He wrote the original script, which I will say is a fantastic piece of writing, but he was never going to direct it, and it’s in Relativity Media’s hands following the sale of Rogue to Relativity. With all the troubles they’ve had, I don’t know if it’s going to happen. If they can get their financial act together, maybe, but it has almost happened two or three or four times over the last five or six years, so I’ll believe it when it see it.”

Are you guys looking forward to The Strangers 2? I am, but just not sure how well the film will do at the box office - by the time the flick hits theaters it will be almost 10 years since the release of the original movie.. Taking a look at recent sequels to dead franchisees "Independence Day 2, Blair Witch, Bad Santa 2, Ghostbusters, RINGS, XxX) they have all under-performed or flopped, even Jason Bourne was somewhat of a box office disappointment..
