9/25 My Thoughts On 'A Ghost Story'

Whatever hour you woke, there was a door shutting -Virginia Woolf

Warning! A Ghost Story (written and directed by David Lowery) is not a horror movie.. The flick is more of a paranormal drama love story.. That being said this was a very good film, it is definitely not for everyone..

The story centers around a ghost returning home to his wife, only to sadly witness life, time and the world slowly pass by.. The two main stars, Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck.. Once again Mara gives a strong performance and should be consider for an Oscar nod.. Affleck also gives a strong performance but not in a traditional sense..

This was one of the saddest depressing movies I have ever watched, you really need to be in the right my mind frame going into this film..

There are long periods of time in the film that has no dialogue, that might annoyed some viewers..

Positives: Strong performance by the cast, outstanding cinematography, a very deep look at life and death..

Negatives: A couple of scenes were a bit long, could have been trimmed down..

Rating: ★★★★☆

Cast: Casey Affleck, Rooney Mara, Kenneisha Thompson, Liz Franke, Barlow Jacobs and McColm Cephas Jr.
