01/10 WORLD WAR Z To Be Trilogy:

When it was announced Paramount Pictures was turning Max Brooks' zombie apocalypse meets political satire book "World War Z" into a film, many were left wondering how they would do it. After all the novel is really an anthology, each chapter is essentially an interview of a different subject in a different part of the world, allowing each chapter to focus on how people and nations reacted to the crisis before, during and after. To do that in a single film would be a stretch, this is much more something that lends itself to a TV series.

Now we have an idea of how they intend to do to proceed - in the form of a trilogy. The L.A. Times ran a recent profile piece on Pitt and dropped the following quote - "Forster and Paramount Pictures each view WORLD WAR Z as a trilogy that would have the grounded, gun-metal realism of, say, Damon's Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC's THE WALKING DEAD". As previously indicated, the story has been re-written in the form of a narrative with Pitt's central character likely to be involved in some of the situations described in the books. There's a lot of 'interview subjects' in the book with their own scenarios, a single film could only exploit a few of them whereas a trilogy would cover almost all the major ones. The project is currently scheduled for release next Christmas.
