04/16 First Poster For MJ Dixon's "The Violent Dark":
Synopsis: “Something is wrong with the students at Bronzewell Private School, pupils and teachers alike are disappearing, committing suicide or even murder. Violet, the newest exchange student is about to become painfully aware that demons have taken over her place of education and she just might be the only one who can stop it.”
The stars: Doug Bradley, Ivy Midsomer, Emma Lock, Daniel Laws, and Georgia Goodwin.
Recently MJ Dixon took to his blog and explained the idea behing his latest feature - “The Violent Dark started life early on in about 2002 under the name ‘Demon Academy’, the story of Violent Dark was much more a side plot in a much larger story, but it was a part that stuck with me when I went off and made ‘Creepsville’ and ‘Slasher House’. Before long I got back into the notion of revisiting a particular character from ‘Demon Academy’ and of course that character was Violet.”
“This film was my answer to the zombie genre, a genre I have never been too fond of, mainly due to its saturating of the market. I want to have that kind of feel in a movies, but also something that kind of modernized the feel of films like Lamberto Bava’s ‘Demons’. So The Violent Dark for the most part is ‘my’ zombie movie… with no zombies and lots of kicking ass.”
