Back in May of last year, it was revealed that Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Masscare, Friday the 13th, remakes) would be returning to Horror to direct "Backmask" The film is now slated to start filming this June in Rhode Island..
Plot: “During a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vintage record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it’s revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message….and that the real source of horror isn’t particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.”
Insidious, Paranormal Activity, and The Lords of Salem producer Steven Schneider will be producing the film and Kirsten Elms wrote the screenplay. Although not officially announced, we have been told exclusively that Shaun Smith (300, Dawn of the Dead remake) will be handling the make-up effects for the film.
