Hmm ok, not sure why but here we go.. It appears that the 2004 sci-fi thriller hit 'The Butterfly Effect will be remade.. Original Co-Writer/Director Eric Bress is on board to write a new script. No word yet if he will also direct, the flick will be Produced by - original producers A.J. Dix, Anthony Rhulen, Chris Bender and JC Spink, along with Film Engine president Navid McIllhargey..
The 2004 flick starred Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart.. Plot: Evan Treborn grows up in a small town with his single, working mother and his friends. He suffers from memory blackouts where he suddenly finds himself somewhere else, confused. Evan's friends and mother hardly believe him, thinking he makes it up just to get out of trouble. As Evan grows up he has fewer of these blackouts until he seems to have recovered. Since the age of seven he has written a diary of his blackout moments so he can remember what happens. One day at college he starts to read one of his old diaries, and suddenly a flashback hits him like a brick!
The film was a pretty big hit back in 2004, taking in $96 million worldwide on a budget of $13 million.. As most of you know the original cut of the film had one most bad-ass endings ever! But because American audiences are a bunch of cream puffs and I'm sure there were some fear that the pro-life crowd would get all bent out of shape, that ending was replaced with a more upbeat ending..
