5.28 'SHOCKER' Star Talks Remake:

For years now there have been rumors going around that Wes Craven's 1989 horror flick 'SHOCKER', was next in line to be remade.. These rumors have been going around since the mid 2000's when it seem like ever flick Craven made was going to be remade..

Recently Arrow In The Head caugth up with actor Peter Berg.. I'm sure you guys remember Berg played Jonathan Parker in the original film..

Berg had this to say: "I'd love to remake it, Wes would direct it; I'd star in it."

"I’d like to redo Shocker just to get the special effects right because we had a real special effects disaster on the film,"

In other interviews Craven talks about the special effect problems in-depth. "The guy who was doing all the visual effects kind of flamed out, had a nervous breakdown because he was attempting more than he could actually do. When he told us towards the end of the movie that not a single one of the special effects was actually working, he was working on a new technique, my son’s job specifically became just to find all the negative. It was all around town in unmarked boxes and under people’s editing [benches]. It was a nightmare itself. We pulled every favor in town to get all those special effects done very quickly, and some of them are pretty sketchy."

I remember seeing Shocker in theaters back in 89, I thought the flick was ok.. But it's not even close to being in my top 10 Craven films..

Original Story: A murderous TV repairman, Horace Pinker is killing people in a small town left, right and center. He eventually finds the home of Lt. Parker, who is investigating his crimes, and savagely murders Parker's wife, son and daughter. His other son, Jonathan has a strange connection to Pinker through his dreams, and he directs his father to Pinker's business, where a small group of officers enter. Pinker escapes in a horrific spree, killing four officers and then targeting Jonathan's girlfriend, Alison. Another dream leads Jonathan and his dad to a residence where they catch Pinker in in the act of kidnapping. Pinker is arrested after a fight with Jonathan and sentenced to die in the electric chair.

When executed, Pinker - who supposedly had given his soul to the devil in exchange for the power to come back as an energy source - takes over people's bodies and continues committing murders, until Jonathan devises a plan to bring Pinker into the real world, and then cut off his power source...
