6.26 Release Date For 'PACIFIC RIM 2':

Just a couple of weeks ago Writer/Director Guillermo del Toro confirmed that he was hard at work on a sequel to 'Pacific Rim', and that he was working with screenwriter Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand and The Incredible Hulk).. But to be honest with the films weak boxoffice performance last year, it seem 50/50 at best if the film would ever be produced.. But how things have changed..

Today Universal and legendary pictures has officially announced a sequel to 'Pacific Rim', the film is set for release April 7, 2017.. Guillermo del Toro will return to direct, not a shocker there - also a new animated series based on Pacific Rim, will be produced as well..




Last summer Pacific Rim was a box office disappointment - only pulling in $102 million domestically.. But the film had a strong run internationally, pulling in over $309 million... The flick had a Production Budget of $190 million, not counting marketing cost..
