It appears WBs has finally dropped the prequel idea to Will Smith's 2007 blockbuster 'I Am Legend', in favor of another reboot... The studio is moving forward with a script by Gary Graham... But here is the kicker, the script is titled 'A Garden at the End of the World', which was originally intended to be a science fiction take on the gritty 1956 western 'The Searchers', starring John Wayne... The script is now being retooled to fit in the I Am Legend universe...
This will be the fifth film based around Richard Matheson 1954 novel.. The first film to take on the novel was Vincent Price's 1964 flick 'The Last Man On Earth', followed by Charlton Heston's 1971 'The Omega Man'... The third adaptation was 'I Am Legend' starring Will Smith... Then a direct-to-dvd flick 'I Am Omega', by The Asylum film studio...
Back in 2007 - I AM LEGEND, became a huge hit for WARNER BROS - the film took in a massive $256 million at the north American box-office.. for the next couple of years the studio tried in vain to get a prequel off the ground and to bring back Will Smith.. But the project never panned out... By 2011 all talk of a prequel had ended...
