6.20 Lets Talk 'The Lazarus Effect':

Lets talk 'The Lazarus Effect': The film is Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of horror violence, terror and some sexual references - And Stars: Olivia Wilde, Evan Peters, Sarah Bolger, Donald Glover, Bruno Gunn, Jennifer Floyd, Scott Sheldon, Ator Tamras, Scott L. Treger and Mark Duplass...

The story center around a team of ambitious medical professionals that have found a way to bring dead patients back to life using a serum codenamed "Lazarus". After several successful tests are done on animals, Zoe (Olivia Wilde), one of the lead researchers, dies in a lab accident.

In desperation, the team uses "Lazarus" to bring her back and they are successful. But as she begins to display unusual abilities the team begins to realize that in their attempt to resurrect the dead, they may have opened the door to unfathomable evil...

The film was released back in February and did ok at the box office, pulling in $25.8 million on a $3.3 million budget... Over all I thought The Lazarus Effect was a decent watch - My biggest complaints were at times the flick seemed to be handicapped by the pg13 rating...

You can tell some scenes were cut back, it just felt like the filmmakers wanted to go all out - but was stuck in PG-13 land.. Plus I thought the runtime of the flick was a little to short (83 minutes with credits)...

But the lack of gore did not stop the flick from being an enjoyable watch, I thought all the actors gave solid performance's... At times Olivia Wilde (Zoe) was down right creepy and probably gave the best performance of the group... Being a low budget film you always run the risk of having terrible special effects, but surprisingly the effects were good.. It appears Directed David Gelb went with a good many practical effects shots, which is always good..

I'm giving The Lazarus Effect a "B-", A decent low budget horror film with good special effects, good performance's by all the actors - creepy atmosphere with an interesting premise...
