12/28 Halloween Franchise On The Move?




Here is a bit of shocking news to end the year - According to Bloody Disgusting.com, It appears Dimension Films (The Weinstein Company) no longer have distribution rights to the HALLOWEEN franchise...

Back in the summer it was announced that casting was underway and Marcus Dunstan (Feast, Saw IV V VI Saw 3D: The Final Chapter, The Collector and The Collection) would be penning the script but he would also direct...

Malek Akkad and Matt Stein to produce and the film would be titled 'HALLOWEEN RETURNS'... Storyline: The film will center around a group of Haddonfield youngsters taking on Michael Myers. The now 18-year-old child of one of Myers’ victims plays a central role along with the child of a cop who has long been obsessed with Myers’ case, even putting it before his own daughter.

Michael is now on Death Row and the two kids with their own personal vendettas against the killer sneak in to watch his execution. But when things go awry and Myers escapes, the pair, along with their friends, find themselves in the firing line...

But after all of that Dimension Films decided to scrap the project and start from scratch...

Rumor has it: Miramax is starting over with Malek Akkad and is now in the hunt for a new distributor... The Halloween franchise has been with Dimension Films for 20 years, kicking off with 1995's Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.. The follow up was Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, the god awful Halloween: Resurrection, Rob Zombie’s Halloween and it's sequel....
