Uh oh, just when it looked like the reboot of 'Friday The 13th' was finally getting on track - the upcoming project has hit another snag.. Victor Miller, writer of the original 1980 film wants to reclaim ownershiphas - so he has filed for a termination of his grant of property rights effective July 2018..
The plaintiffs Horror Inc. and the Manny Company both claim that the idea of the script was Sean S. Cunningham original director of the 1980 film and that Victor Miller wrote the script to Cunningham's intent..
"Miller had never written a horror screenplay prior to his being hired by Cunningham and was guided in the process, and directly supervised, by Cunningham. Accordingly, Miller entered into an employment agreement with the Manny Company pursuant to which Miller wrote a screenplay for the Film as a work for hire (the 'Screenplay')." said complaint..
The complaint currently being processed by a federal court in Connecticut..
Just a couple weeks ago it was announced that Breck Eisner (Sahara, The Crazies, The Last Witch Hunter) was close to signing on to direct the the long delayed reboot..
