The First Purge centers around the New Founding Fathers of America- testing a sociological experiment that will allow the residents of Staten Island to rob, rape, and murder each other for cash. The ones who take part in the purge have to wear these creepy looking contact lenses that will record all their devilish misdeeds.
Anyways I believe the more you participate in the purge, the more cash you earn. Think I'm right about that. I just watched the flick last night and I'm already having trouble remembering the plot because there really isn't a plot.
Early on in the film, you are led to believe the story was going to revolve around two characters of Isaiah and Skeletor. Isaiah agrees to take part in the purge to better support himself and his sister. Skeletor is just the opposite, he wants to kill as many people as he can.
What really sucks, I was kind of enjoying the flick for about the first 40 mins. When Skeletor was killing people left and right it was like he was freaking Freddy Krueger, I was all in it.
But then the writers decided to infest the story with the dumbest attempt at race-baiting political propaganda nonsense I've ever seen! I checked out.
Unfortunately about 45 minutes into the film Skeletor pretty much disappears and Isaiah takes a backseat. The story begins to focus on a battle between the top drug kingpin of the neighborhood, the Ku Klux Klan and white mercenaries.
The First Purge could have been a fun movie, but you are constantly hit over the head by director Gerard McMurray and writer James DeMonaco political fart to enjoy this crapfest.
