Mandy' takes place in 1983 pacific northwest. Red Miller (Nicolas Cage) and his girlfriend Mandy Bloom (Andrea Riseborough) live in a cabin deep in the forest.
One night a bizarre religious cult decide to take Mandy for themselves. With Mandy gone, Red descends into a nightmarish blood-soaked mission to take revenge on the crazy evil cult.
Writer-Director Panos Cosmatos delivers a stylish horror thriller that pulls energy from the classic 70s Giallo films. At times it felt like I was watching a Dario Argento or Lucio Fulci flick.
The acting is top notch by the entire cast, but it is Nicolas Cage that chews up the scenery in a masterful brutal performance.
Mandy is a slow burn that will frustrate some. The film takes it's time to build up into a blood gushing third act. It's definitely not for the casual movie/horror fans.
My only real complaint I have is the film does tend to drag in the middle a little.
