My Thoughts On 'Halloween (2018)'

Halloween' centers around Laurie Strode's 40 years later after her encounter with Michael Myers, struggling to cope with the everyday life nonsense - she is now pretty much a survivalist hermit and completely obsessed with Myers.

Michael now back at Smith's Grove Sanitarium and once again dormant till a couple of British podcasters decide to visit Michael in hopes of landing an interview. This event ends up triggering Michael, he escapes and returns home to Haddonfield but this time Laurie is ready for him!

Overall Halloween 2018 is a solid sequel to John Carpenters 1978 classic, it actually felt like I was watching Laurie Strode's and Michael Myers for the first time since the original Halloween 2.

Director David Gordon Green was able to deliver the goods. Apparently, that is no easy task when it comes to making a Halloween film. But that being said, there is a scene about midway through the flick that completely took out of the movie for a few minutes.

For the life of me, I do not understand why it ever made it into the final product. It felt like I was watching a Rob Zombie flick for about 5 mins. But as quickly as this subplot appeared, it disappeared just as fast.

Anyways..

The acting was superb especially by Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer. As far as gore effects there wasn't a ton but what was on screen was spot on.

I'm going to give Halloween 2018:

8.5/10 severed thumb

I've been reading quite a few comments on social media, people disappointed with the film. In all honesty, I'm not really sure what they expected? It's a slasher flick about a guy walking around wearing a mask killing people on Halloween. Trick or Treat' That is exactly what the original film was about WOW..

My Michael Myers raking: Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween (2018), Halloween 4, Halloween 5, H2O, Halloween 6, Halloween (2007), Halloween Resurrection, Halloween 2 (2009).

As far as 'Halloween III' goes, the film has nothing to do with Michael Myers and it's an excellent stand-alone flick.
