8.9 Chloe Moretz Gives Update On 'Carrie':

Back a few months ago we all learned that Screen Gems moved Kimberly Peirce's upcoming remake of "CARRIE" from it's March 15th release date too October 18th... I kind of thought it was because they needed to do some re-shoots.. Then in April the studio made the horrible mistake of releasing the trailer online and into theaters.. The trailer looked like a terrible preview for a new CW show airing this fall with an overuses of bad CGI in all its glory..

Hope I'm wrong, but it appears to me that the studio is trying to set this flick up for 12/13 year old girls.. Removing all the elements that made the original film a classic.. Ok I'll stop ranting..

Fangoria recently interviewed star Chloe Moretz, the big question - why was the film pushed back?

“We actually prolonged the film, to be honest,” star Moretz told Fangoria. “We did some reshoots [in Toronto this past May] and added three extra scenes with Julianne [Moore, playing Carrie’s mother Margaret] and I to make the movie even deeper and darker. We prolonged a couple of scenes that needed to have an extra moment or an extra beat just to make it even deeper. It wasn’t about cutting anything out or trying to edit around things; it was about adding more to make the movie scarier and more intense.

Plot: A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloƫ Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of CARRIE earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie..

The film stars: Chloƫ Grace Moretz, Judy Greer, Gabriella Wilde, Portia Doubleday, Michelle Nolden, Alex Russell, Kim Roberts and Julianne Moore.. Carrie is Written By Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (screenplay), Stephen King (novel) - Directed By Kimberly Peirce... The film is set to land in theaters October 18th...
